OdbcDataAdapter.Fill()

The fill method for my data adapter is returning an error which is below. Is there any way that I can verify what is being written to the data set other than looking at the data source?

The data source has no foriegn keys no null records and no duplicate keys.

Failed to enable constraints. One or more rows contain values violating non-null, unique, or foreign-key constraints.

will u try explain it in a more detail what r u tryin to do .?? oledbadapter.fill() method take a dataset or a datatable as a parameter... use datatablle and use datagrid to display ...

I have performed an INSERT to a data source with specific keys which I have generated. The data source record is updated with data generated on the host which the data source resides. I then perform a SELECT of the data source restricting to the key values I initially used to INSERT the record. I am trying to get back the new information the host has added to the record I have inseerted. It is at the Fill command that I receive the error.

For any restriction use check constraints ... i m not able to understand the user generated constraints

I ahve been able to get around this issue by removing the specific field selections and specifying SELECT *.

Time to refresh this old thread.
I am having a problem filling a dataset from a SQL 2000 table.

I have a table in which my primary key is an ID #.
Of course it will not accept a row if the primary key is a duplicate.
But when I try to fill my dataset it gives me an error saying "Column 'ID' is constrained to be unique. Value '2' is already present." Which is not the case because I am looking at the table right now and the same number is not there twice. I have tried clearing before filling and it has no effect, I have tried using .enforceconstraints = False, and also dataset.prereceivepayments.columns("ID").unique = False. Nothing seems to work. I was in the process of adding to this form when this occured and had not been happening before, but I have yet to recognize anything that would change it. Any advice would be appreciated.

I wouldn't try and work out why it doesn't work because you really shouldn't be working with the ID at all. You should leave that to the database to insert and create. Set it to identity and it should solve your problems
