Ngen.exe?

Have read a few articles regarding the Ngen i am interested in how it could be used, however most seem particularly vauge and somewhat contradictory as to wether it can improve performance or not?? So for an example could someone outline to me how i would go about using Ngen to improve my apps load time. i.e would i only pass my startup form or the whole project, separate project then call mine, or something else.....

Some clarification on this would help loads.
