Here's the problem and I'm looking for any suggestions on how to attack it. I service an account that uses a digital x-ray system. The x-ray server is actually an XP Pro unit networked peer to peer with the other workstations. There are times when I need to replace the database on the x-ray machine, but some other workstation still has the application open and the database file locked. If I'm remote from the site, its a real pain to have to RDC into every machine on site to check if it's the one. BTW, the database is a Jet MDB.
Is there a way to programatically determine any information about the workstation that has the file open over the network share? The program would be run on the machine that has the MDB file.
Any suggestions on how to go about this or where to start researching?
Unfortunately there is no support from the makers of the x-ray software. In fact their tech support asked me to share any solution I get with them because they have the same problem, hahahaha.
Thank you for any suggestions.
Bernie
