Without going into great detail... Let me try and explain enough of my situation.
I am needing to make a simple application where objects can be selected, moved, and resized during runtime - something similar to the VB.NET designer.
The only thing that I've found that's similar to what I'm looking for is this:

But I would like something where the object can have the appearance of being disabled (but still be able to be moved), can have the appearance of being checked (but doesn't uncheck when clicked), etc, etc.
Any thoughts?
