I just upgraded to xp professional and am trying to install VS.NET 2003. I keep getting the following error message(s):

[05/09/05,01:02:01] Visual Studio .NET Professional 2003 - English: [2] ERROR: Internal Error 25003.

[05/09/05,01:02:03] Visual Studio .NET Professional 2003 - English: [2] ACTION FAILURE: Action ended 1:02:03: INSTALL. Return value 3. See MSI log for details.
[05/09/05,01:02:11] setup.exe: [2] ISetupComponent::pre/Post/Install() failed in ISetupManager::InstallManagerHelper()
[05/09/05,01:02:11] setup.exe: [2] Component error string not specified in ISetupManager::AddToActionResultCollection()

I did some research and found that its a cd/dvd rom problem (http://www.joewein.de/sw/sw25003.htm). Supposedly, copying the files onto the hard drive and installing from there should solve the problem. But still doesn't work. Anyone else had this problem? The error occurs during the following step:
executing action: create VSDevgroup

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Internal Error 25003 when Installing VS.NET 2003

Did you ever get a fix for this "Internal Error 25003" I am getting the same error and have tried bith installing from the CD-ROM and also from a folder on another server but get the same error from both.

Thanks
Mike

I installed service pack 2 for xp, removed everything I had previously installed, and reinstalled from CD. That seemed to work for me. Good luck.

"Internal Error 25003" occured during set up of VS 2003 !

I am too getting the "Internal Error 25003" occured during set up" during the VS 2003 installation. Have tried from different set of installation cds of VS 2003 but same issue seem to persists. I got Win XP Pro with Sp2. Have uninstalled the Framework 1.1 that I had, Visual Studio 6 but doesn't seem to help.

Thank you Sir, but have followed these steps and tried to create a new default website folder and Shared it. Since this is a computer is not on a network and is standalone, so can't give assign rights to this except keeping the default folder in the shared folder.

Make sure you try multiple cd drives

WOW, Who would have guessed that microsoft designed software that dosnt work with 1 hp Cd/DVD rom but works with my other hp cd/dvd rom. Thank you for your help.

I have no idea ...

what you all are talking about. Is the microsoft page that I was sent to only pertinent to XP Professional, or what, because, after the opening up of the management page and subsequently Services and Applications, I found none of the further nodes that were mentioned in the article. I don't mind telling you that this is really beginning to piss me off. :mad:
