IIS Virtual Directory ?

Can you create a virtual directory for a web site location that points the files to a network drive?

We have a big discussion here about it and no solution.

I was able to create a VD on my local C and D drives. However when I create (or try) to create VD on a network drive it creates a the VD folder but provides a large Stop Sign icon.

We are trying to check code out of VSS to a network location for working on web code and allow it to be backed up nightly.

any help is greatly appreciated!!!

No.... the VD really should point to a local file folder.... otherwise there's no guarantee that the network sharepoint will exist, or be accessable for IIS.
