How To Write a string to parallel (LPT1)

How do you write a string to a parallel port (LPT1) using VB.net?

I have done alot of research on this but can only find how to send via Serial. Some source code would be nice. Thanks.

I did a little more research and found that there is no dll or library for vb.net to write a string or text to LPT1, so if this is the case how has everyone been doing this?
