How To Use SQLExpress, Instead Of SQLServer

I have SQL Server Management Studio Express install on my machine. However, I only want to use SQLExpress for my Database Engine. Right now its defaulting to SQLServer. Is there a way for me to change this? Thanks in advance.

What's defaulting to SQLServer? My SMSE asks me each time i load it what I want to conenct to, and it remembers every connection
