How can you tell if the user is logged on

I have a program and I only want it to run while the user is using their account. If they they switch users but stay active I want the program to stay static. I have tried using System Events but none of them will tell you if the current user is logged on or not. They fire whenever anyone logs on or locks their account.

Well, I found a better fix for my situation. So in the long run I would still like to know the answer but not knowing made me find a better solution.
