drop file onto program icon

I have been searching and cannot find a clear answer.
I would like to drop a pdf on my programs icon (or shortcut) and have the program open and process the file.

I have been placing different functions into the form load event. Is this correct?
Does anyone have a working example? or know for sure how this works?

You can get the file path from Environment.GetCommandLineArgs Method (System), or from e.CommandLine in application Startup event. My.Application.Startup Event, Application.Startup Event (System.Windows)

For console applications you would normally add 'args() As String' to Sub Main and read the arguments there, same for forms applications where you turn off application framework and set your own Sub Main entry point. Main Procedure in Visual Basic
