Difficulty to run vb.net 2003 application in Visual Basic.net 2008

When I convert one of my visual basic.net 2003 programs to Visual Basic.net 2008 on Windows 7, I get an error message stating that it can not run win 32 bit application. But I have no difficulty running the executable 2003 program in windows 7 environment. The references used in the original program relate to use of directx components for graphics effects and playing sound files.

Can anyone tell me if there is anything I can do to make the conversion in vb.net 2008 successful.
