Database update confirmation

Developing intranet site. Have Sql Server 2005 for db maint. Web pages allow users to insert, update, and view db. How do I verify that insert and/or update worked and then show user that his action was completed?

That's a really open ended question. There are many, many ways. Learn : The Official Microsoft ASP.NET Site has several good videos regarding data access. And I recommend using AJAX; videos at the same link.
