Hi, I have at last found out how to do this, from web searching (always a good idea) and trial and error and have found an ideal way to create a custom width crystal report.
Here are the steps.
1. Install a pdf printer driver, I use PrimoPDF as it is free and easy to use
2. Open the printer in Control Panel
3. Click the File menu and select Server Properties
4. Check Create a New Form and enter a description
5. Enter the required dimensions
6. Click Save Form and then OK
7. Open your crystal report
8. Right click on the report and select Design and then Printer Setup
9. Select the PrimoPDF printer (or the one you installed)
10. Under Paper select your new custom paper created in steps3-6
11. Click Properties and then Advanced
12. Make sure Paper Size is set to your custom paper created in steps3-6
13. Click all the OK buttons to return to your report and hey presto custom width!
You should be able to use these steps on any printer that accepts custom papers but I tried 3 here and none would work, but the pdf printer method allows me to setup and trial any size
Hope this helps folks out there!
