Question connect using dial up connection

I want to connect to a remote MySQL database but the only connection available is a telephone line, a dial-up connection. Can you guide me on how to start on this issue? Any links or comment will be much appreciated.

A dial-up connection, once established, is no different to any other TCP/IP connection - a lot of folk here will have fond (or not) memories of having to use a dial-up connection to access the web and it's many precursors.

I'll assume you're totally new to the whole dial-up arena, so you'll need a modem for the dial-up end of the deal and a dial-up access number from your ISP.

Yes, I'm totally new to dial-up connection. My problem is how will get the IP of the end client I'm trying to connect? So that i can use it as the "server" on MySQL connection string.
