Question Car Hire Management System

Hi All,

I am new to VB.Net, i want to learn by resolving a problem i have been having with my small car hire business.

I want to develop a system which will enable me manage the business efficiently, the solution should be able accessible to more than 1 users, on my LAN and i would also like to have a web reservation system.

How easy/difficult is this when using VB.Net and what things must i do at the onset to achieve my goal.

It's more than do-able but to create an application like that that would be genuinely useful to a working business would be a challenge. This sounds like the sort of thing a student would do as a major project. In fact, a car hire management application is a project I've seen done before. Actually, it's surprising that someone who runs a car hire business would want to learn programming to that extent.

I believe the major project in Professional Refactoring in Visual Basic covers a car rental fleet.

The book requires at least an intermediate knowledge of programming but I would recommend it for others looking to increase their skillset.

Thanks Guys, as a matter of fact i learnt VB 6 more than 4 years ago but i have not been active since. I believe with the help of this forum i will be able to come up with a useful application. One quick question though: will i need to use asp.net for the web reservation application/module.
