cannot access unc path

Hi

I have a unc path mapped on my computer and then try to copy some files from that location to the local computer, but I cannot since that give me a access denied error when trying. I also tried to run the application as an adrministrator, but that did not help at all. I also tried the following approach described in this artcle Connect to a UNC Path with Credentials - CodeProject without any luck. What can I do to get by this?

Use the drive letter you mapped in file path, and not the unc path. If you can copy a file in Windows Explorer, then you can also do the same with File.Copy and similar methods.

So you're saying you can't work with that share using Windows Explorer?

I still think there is something you're not explaining, because simply mapping as normal in Explorer will grant same user programmatic access without further ado.

You don't have to actually map the share to a drive, you can just do "net use \\someserver\somepath mypassword /user:somedomain\someusername" before copying or doing whatever you need to do. That will cache the credentials without having to map the resource.

Yes, and that is what magmo7 is doing programmatically, but why the need to add credentials to cache again when that has already been done in the system when the share was mapped to a drive ? Something is not right with that.

I have an update in this issue, if I'm on the same network as the unc path I dont have to use the solution here Connect to a UNC Path with Credentials - CodeProject, but if I'm connected to a Corporate network through a vpn and the map a share on that network, then I need to use the solution in the link. Thats was my case, I was connected to the Corporate network which used a different subnet than my own.
