TORQUAY, DEVON, UK – Innovasys announced the release of Document! X 5, the fifth version of the documentation solution of choice for developers using Microsoft Visual Studio or the .NET Framework. Document! X 5 automatically produces professional quality technical documentation and on-line help for Microsoft .NET Framework assemblies (.NET Framework 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0 are all supported), COM components and controls, Visual Basic source code, Access, SQL Server and Oracle databases and XSD Schemas. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

New features included in Document! X 5 include full support for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, documentation of .NET Framework 2.0 features including generics and nullable types together with new templates to replicate the fresh look and feel of the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 MSDN documentation. The existing Visual Comment Editors integrated into Visual Studio have been enhanced to make it easier to work with complex content such as examples and See Also links directly within a preview of the generated documentation.

Developing accurate documentation, particularly for complex components, databases or XSD schemas, has traditionally been a time consuming, costly and skills intensive task. Documentation during development can be seen as a moving target and at the end of a project developers are often immediately re-assigned to new development tasks, leaving most projects poorly documented. With Document! X, documentation can be automatically produced throughout design and development without requiring investment of developer resource, providing development teams with an accurate and up to date reference and allowing new developers to jump the learning curve of new components and schemas.

Richard Sloggett, technical director at Innovasys, said, “Document! X 5 makes producing documentation a natural and productive activity for developers and technical writers alike. We are particularly excited about the comprehensive .NET Framework 2.0 support and Visual Studio 2005 integration in version 5 which will dramatically simplify the accuracy and productivity of .NET documentation, and in particular documentation of code using or defining .NET Framework 2.0 generic types.”

“Document! X has saved us a huge amount of time, effort and cost by automating the production of reference documentation for our Microsoft .NET components. We are very impressed with the Document! X product and would not hesitate to recommend it to any .NET component developer or development team." said Dean Guida, President of Infragistics, a leading .NET component vendor.

Document! X is the documentation tool chosen by leading commercial component vendors including Infragistics, Data Dynamics, Janus Systems, Dundas, Farpoint, Telerik and Xceed.
