Question aquire scanner image

I am trying to use vb.net express 2005 to make an application that is capable of aquiring an image from a known scanner. I would like for the user to be able to press a button labeled 'aquire image' and then the scanner scans an image and the image appears in my application.

Any tips on how I can do this?
