Any know/have a library to read music files?

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a library that can read music files.

I have one that can read MP3 - but I am looking for one that can read different filetypes. OGG, VOB, ACC, WMA...

I could answer this question, but I have to be honest.. I actually, genuinely cant be bothered doing all the typng that would be required to completely answer it. Suffice to say, you'll struggle. If you research the technologies behind the formats you ask about, you'll find out why it's such a lenghy question to answer. Easiest solution would be to install an existing player with some automation, like WMP, and install the relevant codecs.

What about just reading the Tags from the files (not actually playing them)?

There is a few examples of reading id3 tags on PlanetSourceCode. There are a few written in vb.net, but the one that stood out to me was the one written in vb6. It can read and write in several different versions of id3.

MMMhhh again, it's a nuisance because all the tags are proprietary and different. WMP should be able to read WMA tags, UltraID3Lib for mp3, ape tags I've never used, vob files dont have tags.. CObble some stuff together and see what you can get for free; should be doable for the most part

pps; for MP3, the guy who wrote UltraID3Lib worked very hard to make his library compliant, to the extent of maintaining a page on id3.org (id3 tag official site) of non compliant tagging programs: http://www.id3.org/Compliance_Issues
